The heating/cooling system of the Backbone is described here.

In the rooms to be heated on the ground floor and in the multifunctional rooms on the upper floors and in the atrium, heat is dissipated via underfloor heating. The floor heating/cooling is distributed via the technical ducts of the backbone. In summer there is the possibility to cool the backbone with the help of underfloor heating by so-called free cooling. The free cooling runs over the heat distribution of the floor heating. Only a connection in the basement between the two groups is necessary. The system is operated via weather-compensated flow temperature control. The set point for the flow temperature is calculated as a function of the outdoor temperature via an adjustable heating/cooling curve. The system is connected to the thermal grids of the Backbone.
